The Flying Dutchman

Last night I dreamt I saw a seagull fly
Between Orion and the southern sky
I saw a captain and he waved at me
In between the devil and the deep blue sea

That’s not a seagull it’s an albatross
That’s not Orion it’s the southern cross
That’s not the captain it’s the captain’s wife
In between an island and a sea of strife

Chorus:
Indian ocean, wild and free
O South Atlantic, Zuider Zee
Cape of Good Hope, Cape of Storms
One day I’ll cross Capricorn

Is that a river or a trail of tears?
Is that a forest or a vale of spears?
Is that the captain or the captain’s ghost,
In between Agulhas and the Skeleton Coast?

Last night I dreamt I saw a seagull fly
Between Tugela and the River Kei
I saw the captain and he called my name
The more things change the more they stay the same

Chorus
